Our Approach

At MORE ACTION, we strongly believe that every individual with a disability,  and those trapped into conflict and emergency situations have full potentials to become  contributing members of their  communities only if  the right support is provided for them such as access to education, proper health care, good nutrition, proper housing, better equipment and decent employment in an inclusive manner. There needs to be a sense of inclusion and integration in the host communities where they belong. Hence, our solutions include providing assistance to the individual by building better inclusive and integrative communities and societies which are welcoming.

 Our focus is building the individuals, one person at a time.

INTEGRATION AND INCLUSION:
Integration needs to happen at all levels, from homes, to schools, to communities and society. The interest of the individual must come first, the abilities should count towards what is possible and not the limitation. Every individual in our eyes is as capable and as productive as any other individual. We look at the abilities and not the disabilities. Hence disability is not inability.
Concerning inclusion, we are raising awareness about disability through  outreach with different sectors of the society. The potentials of those with disabilities and displaced persons trapped in emergency situations need to be understood and acted on, for our communities to transition from providing physical access and removing barriers to becoming more welcoming and inclusive to vulnerable groups.
To enable us  accomplish our GOAL and SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES of  Social Inclusion,our Strategies and  Activities involve:
*Monitoring,Research,Documentation and Publication:

We collect information on the current situation of persons living with disabilities and those affected by humanitarian emergencies and their economic activities; statistics are also conducted  on the number of children with disabilities who are out of school, who lack basic health services, shelter and employment opportunities in communities. The information is documented and compiled into reports which can then be used for advocacy purposes and program design.
*Advocacy and Lobbying:
Once information has been collected and documented,we organize advocacy boot camps with legislators and decision makers and lobby the government, and international organization to assist us in pushing for change in communities. Advocacy efforts address the rights of vulnerable and underprivileged groups like the disabled, older adults etc.
*Awareness Raising and Community Mobilization:
We organize awareness raising campaigns, to sensitize communities on the human rights of persons with disabilities in communities. We mobilize persons with disabilities to take up actions and fight for their rights;
*Petition writing:
We write petitions to the government to implement international conventions they adhered to;
*Education/Capacity Building:
We conduct workshops and organize free training on key areas of Social Entrepreneurship,train leaders of NGOs and Community leaders, educate and sensitize the public using the  human rights  and the social model of disability approach to empower women, children and Disabled Persons Organizations.
